Making the Most of Cam Traffic When It Slows

Making the Most of Cam Traffic When It Slows

Happy summertime, models! While traffic sometimes slows down as folks hit the beaches and enjoy other outdoor seasonal activities, there’s plenty you can do to offset the loss of paying customers. Seek out mainstream inspiration for new ideas to use in your cam room, take a breather to refresh and climb those camming ranks by maximizing the time you do spend online.

Since traffic is the lifeblood of the camming industry, I’m sure you’ve noticed there’s less of it overall, especially if you’re a veteran who was around five years ago. That means we must do more to convert the traffic that does come in! Fortunately, there are many ways that you can improve your profit-making potential.

Paying customers show up for the personality, more than the body, when it comes to watching streamers.

The most popular tactic is taking cues from what’s popular on mainstream entertainment sources. Paying attention to Twitch and YouTube can be a hotbed of ideas and inspiration, but just be sure you don’t get distracted — I have spent many nights on YouTube where I start looking at a review of an old Ferrari and suddenly realize it’s 4:30 a.m. and I’m watching a video on how Tetra Pak is made and recycled — this happens more than I would like to admit. Instead, you can focus on what YouTube entertainers are doing in terms of cosplay, makeup tutorials and the latest pop culture trends.

As for Twitch, which is a video game streaming service, there are many parallels with your cam stream. In fact, there are plenty of gamer girls making as much money as cam models, just by playing video games! They’re not even doing anything sexual sometimes, but they’re earning solid revenues from chatting up the viewers, offering hilarious commentary and playing up their emotional reactions to the game. Bottom line? Paying customers show up for the personality, more than the body, when it comes to watching streamers.

I would also recommend looking at other camming sites and what their models do. Instead of viewing them as your competition, realize that the main distractions come from non-adult entertainment sources blurring the lines of sexuality and “mainstream” content. The fight for eyeballs on screens is a full-on war and SFW entertainers have an advantage because it’s socially acceptable to watch most YouTube channels or Twitch broadcasters in public.

That leads me to my next point: The time that you have with your members is largely covert on their end, because they tend to value their privacy — if they have families or a mainstream reputation to protect, they may shy away from watching a cam show, unless they can find a tiny period of undisturbed “me time.” That means members have very limited time to interact with you, so take advantage of the precious moments they spend in your chat room — entertain ‘em and keep ‘em coming back for more! Every second counts, no matter what.

Another issue I have seen on many different cam sites is that models are often sitting in their rooms looking bored … or worse, visibly angry and upset. Entertain yourself if you end up in this situation, or just log off and get your mind in a happier and more productive place, before getting back online. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you how a bad day online can spiral out of control and leave a negative impression that’ll harm future traffic levels. Also, cam networks tend to use similar methods to determine cam model rankings and placement on their pages, giving extra weight to how efficient a model is with their earnings vs. time spent online. That means a slow day can really hurt your rankings if you’re not careful.
